    Registration Dos and Dont's

    • If you are new, have all your registration documents ready to upload including photo, passport or birth certificate.

    • Create additional accounts for additional family members. Register all players and parents under the username used to register the first player in your family. Creating additional accounts is not restricted by the system, however it will cause issues when rostering and making payments.
    General Information

The Fairfield United Soccer Association (FUSA) is a non-profit organization run by parent volunteers. Fairfield United looks to provide an opportunity for youth soccer players in our community to improve their skills, play competitive travel soccer and enjoy the game. We aim to facilitate player development and promote the values associated with youth sports including teamwork, sportsmanship, and local spirit.

Fairfield United currently sponsors boys and girls travel soccer teams, for residents of Fairfield only, from the U9 age group up through the U14 age group and into high school.

Travel soccer is for players (and their families) interested in developing their abilities beyond the recreational level through hard work and a commitment to increased levels of soccer training and competition. It is a full year program and a full commitment is required from both players and parents.

Travel soccer requires playing games outside the club in a local league with home matches on Fairfield Parks & Rec fields and with travel to away matches against other clubs in the CT area. Generally speaking, away games are within a 30-45 minute drive although there are a few exceptions. There is also travel to local tournaments.

As a general rule FUSA holds open tryouts in May/June and forms new travel teams in the summer of each year. Teams are formed for both boys and girls from U9 through U17. U9-U11 age groups typically have four-five teams. U12-U14 age groups typically have two or more teams. The number of teams fielded in each age group is primarily based on the number of qualified players who tryout. Tryout evaluations are led and managed by outside soccer professionals and coordinated with FUSA's Tryout Committee.

Teams compete at various levels within the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) and Southwest District (SWD) depending upon the competitive and developmental needs of the players involved. In addition, based on recommendations by the club's professional coaching partners at Ole, FUSA may choose to enter some teams into the Connecticut Club Soccer League (CCSL) or the New York Club Soccer League (NYCSL).

Roster Sizes for the 2018/2019 Seasons:

    U9-U10 7 v 7 12 Players
    U11-U12 9 v 9 15 Players
    U13-U17 11 v 11 18 Players*

*Due to CJSA division adjustments, roster sizes for U14/U15 teams may increase to meet the needs and abilities of our players. If this happens, FUSA will work with Ole to ensure additional developmental opportunities are added so all players benefit and grow.

There are typically two scheduled practices per week, three for premier, as determined by coaches. Attendance is expected at all practices. Players should advise their coaches if they are unable to attend a practice.

    District League Games:

Teams will play a complete league schedule (usually 7-8 games as set by our CJSA District League commissioners) in the fall and spring seasons. These games are normally played on Sunday afternoons, with make-up games scheduled on other days subject to field availability. Attendance is required at all games (with the exception of illness or family commitments).

    Friendly Games:

Teams can play, at coaches discretion, additional non-league games. They will typically take place on Saturdays.

Fairfield United will pay for entry into two tournaments for each travel team (one in Fall and one in the Spring). Premier teams will participate in 2 tournaments per season.

    Connecticut Cup Play:

For travel teams U11 and above CJSA administers CT Cup, a statewide single elimination tournament, each fall and spring. These games are normally played on Saturday.

Each team will be led by a soccer professional (Tech Coach) and a head Parent Coach
